In the first instance Greenstar developed probiotic for agriculture and horticulture. Why did we do that? Originally, plants live in harmony with lots of helpful soil bacteria. Research indicates that a small amount of healthy soil contains 30.000 species of bacteria. These beneficial types of bacteria help the plants to absorb nutrients and water better, so that the development of the plant itself is also better. This micro life also plays an important role in the resistance of plants against diseases. The beneficial bacteria help plants to protect themselves against diseases. For example, the bacteria do this by releasing signalling molecules which induce defensive response through the creation of antibiotics and by taking space. This is a natural process, as evidenced in the fact that there is a gene present in the plants, which makes the plant susceptible to the different bacteria.

The problem in intensive agricultural and horticultural land (mostly monoculture) is the diversity of microorganisms is much less than in nature.
